GOOD FORWARD SELLING EFFECTED PURCHASES BY GERMANY United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Kecd. 11 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. Discussing: the forward selling: of Australian apples next season, Mr, IT. Stephens, of the New Zealand Fruit Control Board, said he had sold 157.000 cases of New Zealand apples to Hamburg on June 13, at 14s a case c.i.f., equivalent to at least 10s f.o.b. Tasmanian Sturmers offered on the same market made 7s f.o.b. “It is all a question of disorganisation. New Zealand apples bring from 2s to 3s more than Australian, because they have built up a good name and sell on their description.'’ Mr. Stephens instanced the case when a German recently secured selling orders for Australian apples on the Continent, including 100,000 cases of Victorians, which he was charging 6d a case to growers and 4d to sellers, totalling lOd in unnecessary charges. New Zealand control sells at a total cost of about Id.
FRANKTON STOCK SALE BEEF MARKET STEADY From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Tuesday. There was a good attendance of buyers at the last stock sale of the year at Frankton today. A larger yarding of beef sold at late rates. Sheep and pig§ were penned in good numbers. Fat pigs brought better prices, while store lines were easier. Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited. —An extra large yarding of all classes of beef and fat sheep. Good quality fat steers and young cows met with keen competition and the whole yarding was cleared at late rates. Pigs were penned in average numbers, while store cattle and sheep realised prices on a par with last week’s quotations.
