FRANKLIN NOTES

The Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society at a meeting on Saturday evening decided to invite the Prime Minister. Sir Joseph Ward, to 3 P*n the show in February. A challenge cup for the aggregate Points in the pedigree milking Shortborn class was presented by Messrs. Wood Bros. Karaka. The New Zealand Friesian Association intimated that it had decided to srant an additional £3 in prize money a nd a special prize of £1 Is for a judging competition for persons under tbe age of 17 years. A committee was appointed to arrange a steer-riding competition. The following judges signified their willingness to officiate at the show: Blood stock. Messrs. 11. J. Booth and "*. G. Booth, of Fell ding: pedigree milking Shorthorns. Mr. A. Fisher, of Cambridge; pedigree Friesians, Mr. *eil Carter, of Whakatane: pedigree Jerseys, Mr. C. G. C. Dernier, of Peilding; pedigree Ayrshires, Mr. H. H. Olson, of New Plymouth; Romney, Southdown and Shropshire sheep. Mr. J- Knight, of Feilding; pigs, Mr. I*. Diacombe. of Cambridge; wool, Mr. L. Sutherland, of Auckland. It was decided to ask that some of tbe North Island championships be allotted to the show in 1931. Nineteen new members were elected. * • *

Malcolm, were authorised to purchase the necessary fittings and furniture for the building.
