TOMORROW’S CONTEST PARTY LEADERS AT WORK Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Hutt by-election will take place tomorrow and the campaigns of the three candidates are drawing: to a close. The Hon. H. Atmore addressed a meeting at Petone last evening, and today four Ministers, the Hon. H. Atmore, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe. the Hon. G. W. Eorbes, and the Hon. W. A. Veitch. will speak in support of Mr. J. Kerr, the party’s nominee. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Coates, has taken a prominent part in the campaign of the Reform candidate. Mr. H. P. Johnston, while the Hon. W. D. Stewart has delivered several speeches. All the prominent men of the Labour Party have worked for Mr. W. Nash. Last evening- the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, issued a final statement to the electors, claiming that the Government, within the limited time during which it had been in office, had. in spite of economic difficulty, made substantial progress in carrying out the policy which he enunciated prior to the general election. Remarking that nobody desires a general election, he argues that the Government should have an opportunity to complete its work.
