LOAN COST REDUCED
WAITEMATA POWER BOARD’S POLL BIG SALES INCREASES A reduction in the costs oC its £IOO,OOO loan, approved recently at a poll, was announced to the Waite - mata Electric-Power Board this morning by the chairman, Mr. J. W. Hayden. The costs at a loan poll last year, said Mr. Hayden, were £1,050, but it was now known that the expenses of the recent poll would be only £730. The report of the resident engineer, Mr. F. J. H. Wilson, said work in the Waikoukou Valley had been begun again. The 11,000-volt line had been poled and wired as far as Coughlan’s. About 30 chains of low-tension circuit was being wired at Hepburn Road, Glen Eden. Early in the New Year it was intended to proceed with erecting the earth leakage and the re-closing relay equipment at Helensville, to control the Kaukapakapa line. Eightyeight new connections were reported, bringing the total to 7,218. The secretary-treasurer, Mr. A. Main, reported the gross sales of current in November to be £5,078 4s 7d, an increase of £427 5s Id on the amount in November, 1928. For the eight months ended November 30, the sales were £48,405 11s 9d, against £42,042 8s for the similar period in 1928.
