GUARD OVER PLANE

PREVENTED MORE SERIOUS PILFERING MILITARY AT MILFORD CRASH When the Dornier-Libelle flyingboat crashed at Milford on Thursday evening last, killing its two occupants, souvenir hunters gathered morbidly to pursue their hobby. After the plane was dragged up on the beach and early the following day many pieces of wreckage and quite a number of more or less valuable mechanical parts were taken. Undoubtedly the losses would have been far greater had it not been for the action of military authorities at Narrow Neck, who posted a guard over the wreckage from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 7 a.m. on the following morning. A rope barrier was erected round the machine, and no one other than those associated with the flying-boat venture was allowed near. Throughout the night this guard was maintained with the utmost vigilance, and the depredations of the souvenirhunters took place before and after it was mounted.
