PLAZA

“THE FOUR FEATHERS” A new note has been struck in that wonderful film, ‘’The Four Feathers.” ■which is now to be seen at the Plaza Theatre. We have had the thrill of animal pictures and the glories of nature, there has been the drama of story, of romance and adventure. But never have the two been combined In the grandeur that is at the command of each. It was left to Merian Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, of Paramount, to combine the two. Some IS monhts ago they had a thought which they communicated to Jesse L. Lasky. of Paramount; and he, after listening to their plans, gave them a free hand to go ahead. That was all that was divulged at the time, and the noted producers of “Grass ; and “Chang” set off into the wilds o! ■ Africa to make another. When they returned with many pic- 1 tures of Africa, the production of “The ; Four Feathers” was started at Hollywood. where the skill of the Paramount production organisation wove the thrilling story of British courage and adventure into the pictures that Cooper and Schoedsack had taken in the Sudan. The effect is startling and sensational. It needs to be seen to be appreciated. The charm, the thrill, the power of the human drama is skilfully interwoven with the might of nature, thus producing one of the pictures that is listed to be remembered above all others. In the cast of the production arcsuch well-known players as William Powell, Richard Arlen. Fay Wray. Clive Brook and Noah Beery. The supporting talkie items include a gazette in sound, a comedy, a talking and singing scepa. “Hawaiian Nights,” and a particularly amusing sketch, with songs by Elsie Janis. the London and New York musical comedy star.
