£800,000,000 INVESTED IN ALL COUNTRIES HALF IN UNITED STATES Reed. 10.47 am. GENEVA, Friday. Labour Office figures show that the capital invested in the cinema industry is £800,000,000, half of which belongs to the United States, where the industry ranks third after foodstuffs and motor-cars. Britain’s investment totals £70,000,000. Of the world's 57.000 cineiha theatres, 25,000 are in Germany and 4,000 in England. American cinemas accommodate 100,000,000 spectators weekly.
