OLD COTTON MILLIONAIRE “AH’LL SAY NOWT” Mr. William Birtwistle, 74 years o£ age, the Preston millionaire who controls more looms than anyone else in the world, was recently married to his typist. Miss Edith Stevenson, aged 20, says a London exchange. He met her when he was passing through the office and saw her having difficulties with her typewriter, which he adjusted. Late one night he called at her home —her father being a cotton operative—and announced that the marriage would be the next morning at 8 o’clock. The girl turned np wearing a mackintosh over her pink wedding dress. The happy couple then proceeded to Ixtndoti, where at Euston a battery of Press photographers awaited them. Mr. Birtwistle sprinted down the platform dragging his blushing bride with him and stating to the Pressmen, “Ah'll say nowt.” They proceeded to the motor show at Olympia, as he hpd promised his bride a motor-car as a wedding present, but he informed the salesman that he would take a fortnight to make up his mind.
