Talkies Are Now of Portable Type

NEW WESTERN ELECTRIC APPARATUS PACKED IN SUITCASES A new type of Western Electric reproduction apparatus embracing portable units for the screening of business and educational talkies, is the latest achievement of cinema science. This apparatus consists essentially of a reproducer or projector, about the size of the average suitcase, an amplifier, a horn, receiver and screen. The entire equipment may be transported in four specially prepared trunks, which can be handled and moved with ease. Once at the scene of activities the portable system can be assembled rapidly and — the show is on. This new equipment is designated

PORTABLE SCREEN AND HORN by Western Electric expressly for business, lecturing and educational purposes. Tx-aders consider it admirable for showing the public business facts, demonstrating the manufacture of pi'oducts, and advertising generally. In the educational field it is eonconsidered excellent for musical instruction, teaching history and geography, health, sanitation, hygiene and languages. This Western Electi-ic achievement is far past the experimental stage, and already has been demonstrated throughout the length and breadth of America. It is stated definitely by the company that the equipment will not be available for theatre entertainment.
