INJURED BIG TOE
COMPENSATION AWARDED i Because his big toe had been smashed by a case of oil, which slipped and fell on to his foot, Sidney Ellis Jacob, a labourer (Mr. Sullivan) was awarded compensation against his employers, Nearing and Company (Mr. Xorthcroft) in the Arbitration Court yesterday. The accident occurred during the discharging of case oil cargo from the steamer Baron Fairlie at Western Wharf on April 17 last. Weekly compensation was paid the injured man until August 9, but he claimed an additional £3 ISs 2d weekly to the present date. After hearing medical evidence the court awarded compensation for a period just over two months.
