TIVOLI
“HARD BOILED ROSE” From this evening the Tivoli Theatre will present a new talkie entitled “Hard Boiled Rose,” which comes to New Zealand with excellent reports from America. “Hard Boiled Rose” is a well directed and acted talking picture. The dialogue is scattered throughout and all the voices register exceedingly well, particularly those of John Miljan (villain), Myrna Loy (heroine), as well as the rest of the cast. Gladys Brockwell (villainess), William Collier, junr., (ne'er-do-well son of the villainess), Ralph Emeron (hero) and Edward Martindell (heroine’s father). The theme is familiar, though the ending is rather suspenseful and the story is unfolded very entertainingly. Several new talkie featurettes will also be presented this evening.
