TE AROHA GALLOPS
YESTERDAYS TRY-OUTS Although showers fell at Te Arolia yesterday morning, several fairly fast gallops were registered, principally by Te Awamutu entrants. Glenstar and Miss Albyn went four furlongs, the former finishing on the best and scoring by a length in 50 1-5. Trig and Terrapeen were only given slow work, while Archeeri strode along briskly over two miles on the plough. He is in really good heart, and revelled in his work. The -Lamb did a couple of rounds at a moderate pace, and useful tasks were allotted Kanui and Antique. There was very little between King Lap and Leasehold in a sprint of three furlongs, which took 38, and Lucky Alice finished half a length in front of Te Apurangi over live furlongs in 1.3 4-5. Sir Russell accounted for Black Maire by a margin of over a length, the last half-mile being run in 50 1-5. The Marble Arch—Lacemaker three-year-old filly ran half a mile in 53. Glenison, looking fresh and well, sprinted just at the finish of a six-fur-longs task. Master Labour, who has shown improvement since running at To Rapa, executed a satisfactory round after breakfast. Bert Hinkler, who is nominated for the Auckland meeting, was not worked.
