The headmaster of Defoe Road School, London, has adopted a novel but effective method for inculcating “character” into his pupils. Whenever two of the boys have a difference of opinion he insists that it shall be settled with the gloves, thus the boys smooth out their quarrels and learn to become “sportsmen.” The picture shows a bout in progress, with the headmaster as timekeeper.
