OLD-TIMERS TO PLAY IN CRICKET JUBILEE MATCH
WELLINGTON cricketers are looking forward to the jubilee match against Canterbury, the tentative date for which is St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, next year. Quite a number of players of 25 or more years ago have come forward and offered their services to take part in the match. Among these are W. S. Bryce, who is now Wellington’s sole selector, J. Hutchings, A. D. S. Duncan, of golf fame, S. and C. Hickson, M. Crombie, E. Oa Hales, F. A. Laws, V. Waters, C. A. Richardson, K. H. Tucker, who was Wellington’s selector for several years, E. F. Upham, F. L. Ashbolt, W. McGirr, F. Holdsworth, F. Robertson, E. M. Beechey and W. Wynyard, each of whom has a cricket reputation in his own generation as a Wellington representative, while several of them have played in New Zealand teams. Though not as agile on their feet as some of the younger players of the present day, they have an excellent knowledge of the game and their batting should be a treat to watch.
