MISSION TO CHINESE

WORK IN AUCKLAND REPORT TO PRESBYTERY The difficulties faced by the Rev. W. Mawson in his work at the Auckland Chinese Mission was stressed in a report presented to .the Auckland Presbytery yesterday by the Rev. E. R. Harries. Mr. Mawson also holds the office of foreign mission secretary. The time of one man could be fully occupied, however, in attending to the 1,000 Chinese men in the province. The Sunday school had now 20 Chinese children on the roll and was growing steadily. The clerk stated that calls to the Rev. J. Hubbard, of Drury, were being offered by the Cashmere Hills congregation, Christchurch, and by the Kelburn Church, Wellington. As neither call had been received -officially, action was deferred. The induction of the Rev. J. H. Bredin, of Terrace End, Palmerston North, to the charge of Papakura, was fixed, for tomorrow evening.
