ONEHUNGA CIRCLE’S EVENING on Friday the members of the Onehunga Play Reading Circle spent a pleasant evening to mafk the close of the 1929 season, at Glengarry. Auckland Road, w licit was kindly lent by Mrs. Kirkwood. Games and competitions were enjoyed, and several of the members gave nursery rhymes in mime and sung, and Mrs. Jurley's Waxworks. Mrs. Murdoch, president of the circle, presented the prizes for the competitions to Miss J. AVarnock, Mr. A. Cole, and Mr. AV. Rushbrook. Mr. A. Cole, on behalf of .the members, then asked Mis. Murdoch to accept a book, and thanked her for her continued kindness to the circle. Among those present "ere:—Mrs. Kirkwod, Mrs. Murdoch, Aliss "VViitkin, blisses Birch, a-. Birch, I*3. Birch, Goutes, Kirkwood, J. Kirkwood, McArthur, N. McArthur, S. Me Arthur, Smith, M. Smith, Warnock, and G. Warnock, Dr. Kirkwood, >lr. Murdoch, and Messrs. Cole, Connor, Davey, Jones, Rushbrook, and Warnock. SURPRISE PARTY BIRTHDAY GATHERING A very pleasant evening was spent at the homo oC Mr. and Mrs. Percy Jiobb, Rodney Road, Northcote, when a large number of friends visited them with a surpr se party, for the purpose of celebrating the birthday of their daughter, Git dys. Games and dancing passed a very enjoyable evening.
