Preliminary Survey of Waipa Acceptors
GOOD FIELDS GUIDE FOR ELLERSLIE? The annual race meeting of- the ! Waipa Racing Club is to be held at Te Awamutu on Saturday next, and with fine fields engaged there is every indication of this popular gathering being a pronounced success. In some cases the number of runners is going to be uncomfortably large, but late withdrawals may serve to relieve the situation in this direction. There is likely to be one rather weak race, and that is the final event, for of the nine acceptors all but one claim earlier engagements. The appearance of several Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap candidates in action lends additional interest to Saturdays’ racing, which may—and again may not—furnish a guide to the big Ellerslie events. A preliminary glance at the programme suggests that the following may be difficult to head off in their engagements: Pirongia Hurdles. —The Lamb, Catonian, Archeen, Waltzer, Whaka King and Red Day. Kihikihi Handicap. —Sir Russell, Ti Tree, Flying Prince, Black Maire, Gemligbt, Valuation and Lunette. Waipa Plate.- —Welcome Boy, Master Latour, Perennis, Praetor, Biddy Comet, Derry Belle and Illuminagh. Te Awamutu Cup. —Prodice, Corinax, The Lover, Transformer, King Emerald. Paterangi Handicap.
