BIRKENHEAD SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE The Birkenhead School Committee held its monthly meeting last evening, the chariman, Mr. J. Macdonald, presiding. The headmaster, Mr. A. G. Menzies, reported that the roll for the month was 368, with an average attendance of 351. The attendance did not entitle the school to retain its present staffing for the coming year, but the term nearly ended showed that the average for the term will be over the 321 required. This would entitle the school to the service of a teacher for the next term.

It was decided to apply to the Education Board for the services of this temporary teacher. The committee congratulated the headmaster and staff on the excellent report received from the school inspector, Mr. I_>. E. Leslie. The report stated that the school was under most efficient management, and a very fine working spirit was evident tl'. roughout. The teachers took a keen interest in their pupils, and the latter responded by putting forth their best efforts. The committee worked in the heartiest co-operation with the teachers for the welfare of the school. Mr. T. A. Hunter, Director of Dental Hygiene, advised that the request of the committee for the services of a dental nurse had been granted. A letter of appreciation and thanks is to be sent to Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., for his efforts in connection with the dental clinic.
