POLLY’S PICTURE RETURNS TO T. GRIMMOND HOROTO JOINS S. GROAT’S TEAM The well-known pacing mare, Polly's i lcture, by Prince Child from a Daynrecently trained by Geo. .litchell, has this week gone into T. Grlmmond's stable. As a two-year-old, the chestnut mare was handled by Grimmond, and had her first race under his charge. , she "' as tra *ncd at Epsom by , ‘ obaw and showed some promise toy running second at Whangarei to . oy Bird after a few weeks’ preparafion. Last season Polly signed on with Garth Robertson, who had her ready for the money when he was taken ill, and the chestnut mare was transferred to George Mitchell’s charge. She was not long in capturing a stake for her new trainer and later at Hastings ran three solid races for a first, second and third. This season Polly’s Picture developed a habit of “slow motion” at the barrier, which cost her a couple of races, but in her last start she was beaten, after having everything in her favour. T. Grimmond intends, all going well, to take the daughter of Prince Chide to Carterton this month to compete in the Wairarapa Cup. Groat’s Team Increases Iloroto. the aged pacing gelding by Norminston—Belle of the Ball, who recently showed a return of form lor Trainer F. Mills, has transferred to Sid Groat’s stable, who also has taken over a promising novice which claims relationship to Nita Bell and All Bell. After making a fine showing at Whangarei, where he ran second to Vanity Boy in the mile, Haroto spread-eagled a big field at the Auckland October fixture over a 12-furlong course. He should give Reinsman Groat a further chance of getting on the drivers’ honours list.
