GARDEN FETE HELD

FUNDS FOR MISSION In spite oC the showers of Saturday afternoon, a large number of people attended the garden fete held at “Puriri Puke,” Allandale Road, Mount Albert, the home of Mrs. J. W. Tattersfleld. The stalls had to be moved inside out of the rain, but a brisk trade was carried on throughout tiie afternoon, and a substantial sum raised toward the funds of the Mission to Seamen. It was most unfortunate that the weather conditions prevented those present from seeing Mrs. Tattersfield's beautiful garden. The Countess of Orford, who opened the fete, was introduced by Archbishop Averill, and was presented with a posy of blue flowers. Musical selections were given by the band of the Auckland Regiment. Those In charge of the various stalls were:—Cakes, Mrs. Milsorn, Mrs. Reid, Mrs. Storey and Miss Clark; Christmas tree, Mrs. 11. Hemphill, Miss B. Hemphill, Miss A. Snelling and Miss Jackman; flowers, Mrs. T. Purdom. Miss Hazel Purdom and Miss Wynyard; produce, Mrs. K. R. Vickerman Mrs. Henson, Mrs. Morley Bell, Miss Hen-old, Mrs. H. Rainger and Mrs. E. W. J. Bowden: work stall, Mrs. Wainwright, Mrs. Twyname. Mrs. Burke, Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. Brownlee, and Mrs. Ward; afternoon tea, Mrs. 11. K. Vickery, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Fricker, Mrs! McKeich and helpers; soft drinks, Mrs. Beck.
