THE NEEDLE CATCH
"When you are talking with a friend one day bring up the subject of needles, and talk about the usefulness of a needle—how it can be used, etc. Then suddenly ask him to write down the word “needle” on a piece of paper. Then he’ll do quite simply, “Needle.” Then you tell him that he is wrong—and you write “Neeidle.” “Well, that’s not correct,” he’ll say. “There’s no ‘i* in needle.” and probably before you have pointed it out to him he’ll laugh and see the joke, realising that every needle has an “eye.”
