Auckland Girl Goes to London

SEEKING STAGE SUCCESS Successful on the stage in Australia, Miss Hilda Saunders, of Auckland, is now seeking a stage career in London. | With her mother, Mrs. Henry Saun- | ders, Miss Saunders sailed from MelI bourne for England on Wednesday j last week. In London, it is her in's tention to take up dramatic art if possible. Miss Saunders’s work in Australia ! occupied three years with J. C. Williamson, Limited, and she achieved considerable success in the chorus. She appeared in a series of important plays, including “Rose Marie,” “The Five O’clock Girl,” “Hold Everything,” “The Girl Friend,” and “Hit the Deck." In Sydney and Melbourne she had expert training in singing, particularly with the J. C. Tait school in Sydney. She also received instruction from Miss Campbell, under whom Miss Maine Bremner, with “The Desert Song” in its current season in Auckland, received training. In Auckland, Miss Saunders attended the Diocesan Girls’ High School and she is only 20 years of age. Miss Cecil Hall taught her dancing and Mrs. Baxter elocution.
