A GOLF PROBLEM
BALL LANDS IN COAT There was a remarkable incident during a match between Mr. Erl Watson and Mr. L. O. Munn in the Irish open amateur golf championship at Portrush, County, Antrim. A shot played by Mr. Watson came to rest in the sleeve of a girl's coat lying on the grass. Mr. A. B. Babington, the Northern Ireland Attorney-General, the referee, declined to give a decision as to the procedure and the girl declared that whatever happened she was going to have her coat. Mr. Watson was then permitted to lift the ball and drop it. It trickled toward the hole, and Mr. Watson had to pick it up and again drop it. Still it trickled toward the hole. Finally Mr. Watson took it farther away to a flat surface, and it remained where it fell. The hole was halved.
