RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM

“COHENS AND KELLYS IN ATLANTIC CITY”

Whenever those natural comedians and comediennes, the Cohens and Kellys, get together on the screen it means a howling hour of fun for audiences. First in the “Cohens and Kellys” and then in “The Cohens and Kellys in Paris” they provided the most unrestrained, the most hilarious and the most side-splitting laughter. Universal, creators of this four-sided comedy group, have now issued a 1929 version of their antics in “The Cohens and Kellys in Atlantic City.” The picture is now at the Rialto (Newmarket) and Regent (Epsom) Theatres. George Sidney, Vera Gordon and Kate Price, who appeared in the earlier versions, also appear in the new production. Mack Swain is added as the Irishman. Nora Lane, one of the prettiest ingenues in Hollywood, and Cornelius Keefe provide the youthful romance. Atlantic City is the locale. A bathing beauty parade such as only this seaside town can stage was planned and carried out through the aid of the municipality and is a prominent feature of the picture. All the exteriors were made in Atlantic City. The programme at both theatres also includes “The Duke Steps Out,” a breezy comedy-drama by the inimitable William Haines. MUNICIPAL BAND CONCERT The Municipal Band presents its 15th concert of the season in the Town Hall, tonight at eight o’clock. A popular programme will include the band numbers: —March “Sylvia”; overture, “Tantalusqualen”; suite, “In a Lovers’ Garden”; descriptive, “A Forest Wooing”; potpourri, “Tangled Tunes”; and “Gems from famous operas” by Sullivan. Mr. Hal C. AlcLennan, flautist, will play “The Swallows Flight,” and Venice.” Aliss Millicent O’Grady, soprano, will sing “Ah. fors e lui” (“Traviata”), “Carmena” and other songs, and Mr. Eric Alannall, baritone, will sing “Adieu, Aiarie,” and “Pale Aloon.” At the piano Miss Thelma Gordon.
