BUTTER FOR OVERSEAS

ADVANCES REDUCED A further reduction in advances on butter for shipment overseas is announced by Tooley Street representatives. Messrs. Leonard and Son, Ltd., advise receipt of a cable from the firm’s London principal, A. C. Brown, Tooley Street, reading as follows: ‘Decrease in advances of butter, gradings from December 2, to Is 3Ad.” Speaking to a Sun man this morning, Mr. F. H. Leonard said that the move was merely in accord with the trend of the market overseas, and had not been unexpected. It was the second reduction over the last month or so. The season had opened with advances at Is sd, later dropping to Is 4d. The rate of advances on cheese remained unchanged at Sd a lb.
