NOT GUILTY OF MURDER
PLEA OF SELF-DEFENCE SUCCEEDS
DUEL WITH SHOTGUNS SYDNEY, Thursday. In the Criminal Court the trial of Alfred Edwards, aged 23, who was charged with the murder of James Curran in the Gloucester district on October 10, was concluded. Edwards told the jury he shot Curran in self-defence. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. Edwards was discharged. A message from Gloucester, a town IT6 miles north of Sydney, on October 10 stated that, In a sensational duel with shotguns near Copeland, James Curran, aged 52, was killed. Several hours later Edwards, who was co-respondent in Curran’s divorce suit, surrendered to the police and Fas charged with murder.
