“DESERT SONG” SEASON ENDS TONIGHT
EXCELLENT COMPANY Aucklanders will have their list opportunity to se© the cotourfa. “Desert Song” at His Majesty! Theatre this evening, when the New Zealand tour of the company concludes. Last evening the theatre was crowded to see this splendid musiai play, and the performance wa* re ll up to the expectations of those attending. The company, led by the hew Zealander, Lance Fairfax, is undouotedly well chosen, and the acting, misie and colourful scenes cast a spell o/er the audience which holds until it curtain falls on the final scene. The action of the story flit* from the mountain rendezvous of the btnd of Riff raiders led by the Red Shadow (Lance Fairfax), to the home cf General Birabeau, Governor of the Freixii Rost. Fairfax, in the dual role of he dashing Riff leader, and the simple* minded son of General Birabeau, las a difficult part to carry out, but 3b performance of both characterisatkns is perfect. The unwinding of a complicated plot is an excellent story and the beautiful Crocking, scenes and lighting efie-jb complete an excellent performance. It will long be remembered by Auckland audiences.
