HELPING THE CHILDREN

FUNDS FOR SUMMER CAMP

A bazaar to raise funds for a children s summer camp on Waiheke island was opened this morning bv the Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, in the grounds of Sunshine House, Nelson Street, on behalf of the Community Sunshine Association.

In declaring the sale open, Mrs. Campbell spoke with appreciation of the work of the women who had organised and prepared for the bazaar they were doing a very fine humanitarian work in earing for delicate children. The Mayoress concluded bv wishing the stallholders every success. Mrs. Campbell was introduced by Mrs A. E. Ferner, founder and president of the association. Mrs. W. P. Pratt, secretary of the women’s auxiliary which is assisting the association, presented the Mayoress with a bouquet on behalf of the "workers. Bright and Mrs E. C. Kerr; sweets—Piano Students’ Association: art and noveltv—Mrs J H. Bear; cakes—Mrs. F. Gaudin and Mrs. J. C. Blomfield.

A diverse assortment of saleable commodities were offered. A feature was the woodwork and need 1-work seetion made and given by pupils of ewt ? n 3 A ast Technical School, rhe boys had made a fine model of a locomotive, which showed remarkable ingenuity, and several models of racing motor-cars. The girls gave model cradles with neatly worked bedding.
