NEWMARKET PARKING

CHIEF POSTMASTER S REQUEST

BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS

j That parking should be prohibited in front of the Newmarket Rost Office, was the request from the chief postmaster, Mr. H. P. Donald, which was considered at a meeting of the Newmarket Boroush Council last evening. As the post office van called only twice a day, with probably an increased number of calls prior to Christinas, the borough inspector considered that tlio request was excessive, and unless a by-law was made it would prove impossible of enforcement. The question was referred back to the inspector. Advice was received from the Local Government Loans Board to the effect that its application for tho sanction of the board to raise a street improvement supplementary loan of was being investigated, and that the board’s decision would be communicated later. Notification was received from the Librarians’ Association that the next conference would be held in Auckland on March 4. 5 and *6 of next year. Mr. R. T. Michaels was appointed the council’s delegate. A donation of £2 2s was undo to the funds of the Harbour Bridge Association. The Mayor. Mr. S. Donaldson, was authorised to represent the council before the commission. if such action should be considered necessary. A donation of £lO was made to tlv funds of the fire brigade.
