PINAL MEETING FOR YEAR
The Avondale Women’s Club held t 9 final meeting for the year in the ploc khouso Bay picture liall on Tuesday Tho president, Mrs. J. W. Ivealv, occupied the chair. y rS . rendlebury presented the rert and balance .sheet of the social a dance held to celebrate the birthof the club. The evening had nroved a great success, and Airs. Pcnillebury and her committee were thanked for their efforts. Miss Newton presented a lull reof the activities of tho National Snell of Women, in which was included further evidence emphasising „,8 need for women police. It also ~attained an account ot a stirring adgiven by Ur. Doris Gordon, secretary of the Obstetrical Society, appealing for the help of al women in funds lor tho adequate endowment of the chair of obstetrics in than the present lamentably kj-li maternal mortality may be reduced. latter, bv special request. Miss Newton read a paper on “The Life of flame Fawcett,” a. pioneer of outstanding ability in the cause of women, whose death occurred in August last. Recitations by Mrs. Eilenp Riley „nd Mrs. Hatton were much appreciated. while a delightful humorous leading by Miss Marks caused much merriment. V competition, “Kitchen Scents,” won by M.rs. Dell. Afternoon tea, served by Ales dames Welch and Karla mi. and the exchange ~f good wishes for the coming holiday season, concluded a happy afternoon.
