OLD MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE

Prom Our Own Correspondent WHANGAREI, Today. In the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon before Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., a man whose name was ordered to be suppressed was charged with attempting to commit suicide. The man, who was described as an old-age pensioner, was stated to have jumped into the Waipa River in an attempt to end his life. His cries attracted a passer-by who rescued him. He told his rescuer that he was suffering from an affection of the nose, and could neither breathe freely nor sleep. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon.
