HIGHWAY STATUS SOUGHT PRAISE FOR MR. F. S. MORTON The move to have Green Lane Road West declared a main highway was mentioned by the District Highways Council in a letter last evening to the One Tree Hill Road Board, in which it was suggested that the board, meantime, should refrain from making any recommendation on these lines to the Main Highways Board. The council stated that the matter would be considered at tho annual review of the main highways after March 31. Six permits for the erection of buildings of an aggregate value of £483 were issued during the past fortnight. The total of permits issued during the year was 230 for buildings, valued at £93,505. The board decided to erect a street lamp in View Road. R. G. Clark and I. J. Goldstine were appointed delegates to the next town-planning conference. Appreciation of the services given by Mr. F. S. Morton as a member of the Transport Board was expressed by the chairman, Mr. J. S. Hardwicke. Members expressed tho hope that Mr. Morton would be restored to health by his trip abroad, and would again become a member of the board.
