EMPRESS, NEWTON

“BROADWAY MELODY” This evening “The Broadway Melody” will make its second appearance in Auckland, when it will be screened at the Empress Theatre, Newton.

This is a sensationally new type of picture which revolutionises produc“Broadway Melody,” besides having a strong, intelligent, and gripping story, has dialogue, music, colour, catchy melodies that go to one’s head and feet, and superb acting by Bessie Love and Anita Page. This is the first Anita rage screen musical comedy with a specially written score, which includes such hits as “Broadway Melody,” “You Were Meant For Me,” “Boy Friend” and “The Wedding of the Painted Boll.” This evening the Empress will also present a full supporting programme of talkies.
