QUEENSLANDERS WIN BY FIVE WICKETS
EXCITING RACE WITH TIME BIUSBAXE, Monday. Tho match between the English I cricketers and Queensland resulted today in the defeat of the visitors by live wickets. England made 171 and 259, and Queensland 248 and IS3 lor five wickets. The partnership between Worthington and Legge. the not-out men, troubled the local bowlers. They added 61 runs. Then Allom’s stand with "Worthington kept Queensland fielding for half an hour. O’Connor and Levy went to the •vickets with IS3 to make to win in 180 minutes. The start was disastrous, O’Connor going with the score at five. Levy at 13. (lough batted vigorously and had a solid partnership with Rowe. Both men were lucky, as catches were dropped several times. Benson was struck on the face by a hall irom Nichols and retired, and Ouleepsinhji kept wickets. With 100 ap Gough and Rowe hit out. There was an exciting finish. With 30 minutes to play 30 runs were wanted. The crowd cheered every run. There was a great demonstration at Gough's century, the highest score for Queensland against an England team. The match developed into a race against time, and finished three minutes before time. The winning run came from a no-ball.
