R.A.F. APPRENTICESHIPS
AUCKLAND BOY FOR VACANCY
Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. It is officially announced that as a result of the recent applications for vacancies as aircraft apprentices in the Royal Air Force, two appointments have been approved. The successful candidates are Terence E. Boyle, of Stratford, and Deryck Milne, of Papakura, Auckland, both of whom are just over 1G years of age. Milne will leave for England by the Rangitiki in a few days, and Boyle’s passage is being arranged. They will take up their duties in England early in the New Year. The apprenticeship is for three years. The lads will receive wages of Is a day up to 18 years of age and Is 6d over 18. At the end of their apprenticeship they will qualify to become aircraftsmen. The first New Zealand apprentice was F. A. Cramp of Auckland, who went home in August. The next examination for apprentices in the Air Force will be held about the end of April. Applications close at defence headquarters, Wellington, about April 1.
