QUEENSLAND MAKES 248

ENGLAND SIX FOR 165 IN SECOND STRIKE

CRICKET AT BRISBANE BRISBANE, Saturday. The match between the English cricketers and Queensland was continued this morning. England had made 171 in the first innings, and Queensland 187 for six wickets, which it took to 248. England in the second innings had made 165 for six wickets when stumps were drawn. Hornibrook and Hubbard in a sound partnership today added a good many i uns, and the innings ended at the luncheon adjournment. Gilligan and Dawson opened cautiously for England, but later the captain, Gilligan, hit out. The fielding was always smart, and the bowling kept the batsmen defending. Duleepsinhji was never comfortable. A good ball from Oxenham beat him Ducat was out to a brilliant catch. Play today was dull compared with the bright display on Friday. The crowd was disappointed at the early dismissal of Duleepsinhjl, after his brilliant batting in the first innings. Turnbull and Nichols livened things for a while, but did not last long. Oxenham had taken two wickets for 17 when he got Nichols leg before wicket. Turnbull went soon afterwards. England's position appeared hopeless when six wickets were down for 135. The play was then dead slow and the cfowd ironically cheered singles. Worthing was batting for 30 minutes before he scored. The pair played out time, in spite of frequent bowling changes. Details of the score are as follow: QUEENSLAND First Innings
