STOLE FROM FATHER
YOUTH REMANDED FOR SENTENCE
Pleading guilty to stealing a watch chain valued at £2 from his father. Hugh McKean, at Matamata on November 25, Beaumont McKean was remanded at the Police Court this morning to be sentenced in a week’s time. McKean, who was arrested by De-tective-Sergeant Mar-tin, was described as a salesman aged 19. According to Chief-Detective Hammond, McKean had stolen the chain before leaving his home at Matamata to come to town. He was living in town doing no work and a term of reformative detention was what lie needed. The chief-detective mentioned that the father had not wanted to take any action against his son. . “We had be ter have a report from the probation officer,” commented Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., making the remand.
