PROGRESS AT AVONDALE
NO MINISTER IN CHARGE Steady progress in spite of lack of ministerial supervision for the last eight months was shown in the session report presented at the annual meeting of the Avondale Presbyterian Church. The revised roll stands at 1)3 members. The church property is clear of debt, allowing the financial statement to show an excess of assets over liabilities of £4,540. The year's revenue was £4OO. There are 140 scholars on the Sunday school roll, and Bible classes also show activity. A vote of thanks was given Miss Houghton fo* her services as organist and as leader of the Bible classes. Managers were appointed as follows: —Messrs. Spence, Weir, Bissett, Penrose. Bird. Wilson. Pringle, King, McGlllivrny and Young.
NEW BUILDING WANTED
MEETING AT NORTHCOTE
Efforts are to be made by- the congregation of the Northcote Presbylerian Church shortly to augment the •urn of £750 now in hand for building a new church. - A garden party as part of the scheme is to be held shortly. The trustoes propose to begin building when funds total £BOO. The Minister, the Rev. F. A. Thompson. who presided, was congratulated lor his work during the past term. The board of managers was elected as follows: —Messrs. J. Hay, H. H. Kroady, J. Lockie. Hector McKinnon. W. Meston. A. Boswell, D. Monro, J. Fawcett and Hugh McKinnon.
WORK AT MAUNGATUROTO
(Special to THE SUXf WAIPTJ, Today. The interim moderator, the Rev. G. W. Blair, of Waipu, presided at the annual meeting of £he Maungaturoto Presbyterian Church. Satisfactory progress was" shown in all reports presented, and the home missionary. Mr. D. Martin, was congratulated on his work. A talk on the need for a branch of the Women's Missionary Union was given by Mrs. Blair. A musical programme was given and supper served. The committee of managers was elected as follows: —Mesdames Fergus. Grant. Ingram. N. Finlayson and McLean. Misses R. S. Finlayson, H. S. Finlayson. N. Finlayson, J. McCrea. N. McCrea. P. Curtis and J. W. Ingram, and Mr. Borthtlick. Mr. D. Martin was elected an elder to the church.
SUNDAY SCHOOL SERVICES
PAPATOETOE PRESBYTERIANS
There was large attendances at both ihe morning and evening services, he d in the Presbyterian Sunday School Hall. Great South Road. Papat.octoe. yesterday, on the occasion of the Sunday School anniversary. The morning service was conducted by the Rev. L. 11. Hunt, who delivered a very earnest and Interesting address to the young folk. In the evening, the Rev. T. H. Roseveare occupied the pulpit. Special hymns were sung by a large choir of school children. OTAHUHU PRESBYTERIANS
Special singing by the children was ihe feature of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Sunday School, Otahuhu, at the three services yesterday. The morning service was conducted by the Rev. W. Gilmour, B.A. In the afternoon a special service for the children was held, when the Rev. F. B. Barton, 8.A., delivered the address. At the evening service the pulpit was occupied by the Rev. A.
