PRICES MAINTAINED United F.A.—By Telegraph Copyright LONDON, Thursday. At the wool sales, 9,946 bales were offered, including 4,082 from New Zealand. There were moderate offerings of greasy Merinos suitable for all sections, a few scoureds, and a good offer- ' ing of greasy crossbreds and scoured slipes. All sections operated freely, and prices were maintained. The following New Zealand clips brought the prices stated:—Halfbred lambs, Balclutha, 20£d; scoured combing, Walter Peak, 31d. KAURI GUM EXPORTS A report stating that the cleaning plant at Penrose had been crushing the capacity during the month, was submitted to the monthly meeting of the Kauri Gum Control Board yesterday. Export figures for October were shown as follow: To the United Kingdom: 229 tons, £11,294 value, average of £49.318 a ton. To Australia: 1 ton, £lB4 value, average £184.00 a ton. To the Netherlands: 2 tons £285 value, average £142.50 a ton. To the United States, via East Coast: 134 tons, value £10,946. average £81.686 a ton. A total of 534 tons of kauri gum was received from the fields during October, compared with 323 tons for the previous month. Ltd., dated November 28: “Butter: Market slow; salted 164 sto 170 s: unsalted, 184 s to 188 s. Wheys, firsts 158 s; seconds 1565. Following the announcement made on Thursday that Warner’s Hotel in Cathedral Square had been bought by a syndicate for £BO,OOO, it is now learned that the Royal Hotel, Oxford Terrace, has been sold for over £25,000, and that the freehold of the Papanui Hotel has changed hands for about £20,000. It is also known that, the "Wharf Hotel, Woolston, and the Royal Hotel, Woodend, have been sold, and the Canterbury Hotel, Lyttelton, and the Culverden Hotel are said either to have already changed hands or to be the subject of negotiations.
