FIRST TALKIE COMING The Two Black Crows’ Paramount talking picture, titled “Why Bring That Up?” will have its New Zealand release at an early date. » The debut of Moran and Mack in talking pictures will be something of an event for those thousands of gramophone enthusiasts who have chuckled over The Two Black Crows’ records. The famous “Early Bird” dialogue is beard in one of tho early sequences of the picture.
YE OLDE PIRATE SHIPPE Dancing will be enjoyed again this evening amid tlffe unique surroundings of Ye Olde Pirate Shippe Cabaret, Milford. The popular jazz orchestra, known as Ye Versatile Pirates Band, will provide the music, and a very happy time is promised. Late transport will be available. SOCIAL AND DANCE AT MOUNT EDEN A pleasant social and dance function has been arranged by the Eden Chamber of Commerce in the bowling club pavilion for Monday evening next. CLICK CLACK CABARET The usual Saturday evening carnival dance will be held at the popular Click Clack Cabaret, Newmarket, this evening, when new jazz selections wiU be played by the Click Clack Orchestra.
CIVIC THEATRE BOOKING The box plan for the gala opening performance of the Civic Theatre is now on view at the booking office. Civic Buildings, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. To date nearly 2,000 reservations have been made. HUNUA CAMP FOR BOYS An ideal summer holiday for boys is the Hunua Camp, conducted each year by the Y.M.C.A. This healthy camp life continues from December 21 until February 1, but boys can attend at any time. The keynote of the camp is sport and fun, but reasonable discipline is also enforced. Three brand new songs have been w r ritten for “The Shannons of Broadway,” now nearing completion at Universal City with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Gleason. The titles are “Someone to Love Me,” “Get Happy,” and “Living the Life of Riley.” They were written~by Ray Klages' and Jess Greer, and will be published by thfe Roberts Musio Corporation.
DIXIELAND CABARET The ever-popular Dixieland Cabaret will be the scene of another happy dance this evening. Mew musical numbers will be played by that talented combination, the Dixieland Dance Band, and every facility is available to ensure a pleasant evening’s dancing. “THREE LIVE GHOSTS” United Artists have definitely arranged to release “Three Live Ghosts” very shortly. “Three Live Ghosts,” which enjoyed a remarkably successful season throughout America, is the film version of the stage play by Frederic Isham and is an all-talking production. The “Ghost” roles are portrayed by Charts McNaughton, Robert Montgomery «>.nd Claude Allister. The lastnamed already made a name for himself by reason of his “Algie” in “Bulldog Uruil-smond.” Others in the cast are Joan H?7lnett (also of /‘Bulldog Drummond’\ Mercer and k Shayle Gardner.
