RAILWAY TICKETS
PURCHASE CONDITIONS CHANGE
The Railway Department announces that commencing on December 2, it will be possible for intending passengers to purchase their tickets and reserve seats or sleeping berths at any time prior to the commencement of their journey. Up to the present these preliminary travel arrangements could be made only during a restricted period of 14 days ahead of travel date. The new system will become effective during the period of the issue of Christmas and New Year holiday excursion tickets, as advertised in this issue, and should prove a helpful factor toward eliminating the congestion associated with the handling of the heaviest holiday traffic of the year. The department points out that the arrangement is being introduced as a trial measure only, and its permanent adoption is dependent on the extent to which it is used.
