DISPUTE SETTLED
LADY LEWIS TO BE FULLY MANNED ANCHORED IN STREAM A dispute between the stokehold crew and captain of the tramp steamer Lady Lewis, at present anchored in the stream off Hobson Bay, was settled yesterday afternoon. The Lady Lewis brought a cargo of raw sugar from Cuba and discharged at Chelsea Wharf. After unloading was completed the vessel went to her present anchorage to await orders, and while there the dispute arose. The men held that the vessel was one man short in the stokehold and that, added to this, as one fireman was ill, the burden on them would be to* great—it would necessitate six-hour watches. The basis of the settlement was that the ship should be fully manned before she sailed from Auckland. The master undertook to add another man to the stokehold crew, to send the sick man to the hospital tor treatment if he were .certified as needing treatment, and to engage a substitute in his place if he were unable to sail with the boat. It is expected that the Lady Lewis will be in port for another week before she has instructions to sail.
