WOOL SALE IN SOUTH
BETTER PRICES THAN WERE EXPECTED Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The first wool sale of the season in Hiristchurch was held today before a full bench of buyers. The sale, generally, was a good one, with a freer tone than was in evidence at the recent sales in Wellington and Auckland. The figures reached today were in most cases above those expected. Competition all round has been up to the buyers’ limits. Bradford bought freely, and there was keen bidding for fine half-bred and Corriedale, which fold well. Coarser half-breds came up to the sellers’ expectations, which were not high. Crossbreds were easier than the North Island sales. Continental competition was mainly from Russia, which bid for finer half-breds.
