FRUIT FROM SYDNEY

LOCAL PLUMS APPEAR A large quantity of fruit, mostly oranges, plums, water-melons and cherries from Sydney, are selling fairly freely at the City marts. Large quantities of gooseberries are coming forward, but as yet these are selling at low rates. Apples remain at last week’s rates. Larger quantities of strawberries came forward today, but these show a slight decline in value on yesterday’s market. Local plums have made their appearance, but only small lots are coming forward; • * There is a better demand for lemons. The market is very heavily supplied with new potatoes and cabbage. There are also good supplies of green peas and cauliflower. There are fair supplies of all root vegetables. There is a plentiful supply of french beans.
