STRANGE VISITOR
HAMILTON STARTLED BY QUAINT VEHICLE BOUND FOR AUCKLAND From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. Hamilton was startled this morning by the appearance in the main street of a weird-looking contrivance drawn by a superannuated horse. The vehicles consisted of an old motor-car chassis, on which was erected a, covered framework. It was driven by an old man, clad in ragged clothes, and calling himself William Cameron. He had spent the last week in coming from Te Puke, where he had spent his life, and was bound for Auckland. Asked what his object was, Cameron said he wanted to see something of the province. He had enough capital to start fruit-farming if prospects were favourable, but he did not want to work.
He refused a shilling offered by a woman.
