Sterling, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways Department. arrived in Auckland this morning. He left for Frankton by the morning express. Mr. Geo. Cooper, of '‘.Deerlea,” Wellington, a well-known sportsman and Heer-stalker, will visit the northern big-game fishing grounds in March. Ke will bring up a party with him and they will make Urupukapuka Island their headquarters. Mr. O. B. Bunting, Australian and New Zealand manager for the Canadian National Steamships and Canadian National Railways, who has been on a business visit to New Zealand, left for Sydney by the Ulimaroa this morning. Mr. G. Baildon. Mayor of Auckland, will leave for Wellington on Tuesday to attend a meeting of the executive of the Municipal Association and a meeting of the New Zealand branch of the British .Empire Cancer Research Society. Mr. Baildon will return to Auckland on Thursday. Mr. E. F. Hildreth, of Newton, formerly deputy-conductor of the Palmerston North Garrison Band, has been appointed conductor of the Takapuna Municipal Band in succession to Mr. Rex Wills, who has received mother musical appointment in the city. Mr. Gordon S. Troup, master at the • hriatchurch Boys’ High School, and <on of the Mayor of "Wellington (Mr. G. A.
