FAILURE DUE TO SLUMP

BANKRUPT SOLICITOR DISCHARGED “There was no suggestion of dishonesty, his failure being due to a phenomenal slump in land values,” declared Mr. Butler, in supporting the application of John Francis Pullen, solicitor, of Auckland, for discharge from bankruptcy, in the Supreme Court today. Counsel said the honesty and integrity of bankrupt were such as to be a credit to the profession. When Pullen found his financial worries bearing heavily on him he handed back all his documents to his clients, and there was no suggestion that any trust account was involved. Elis books were neatly and accurately kept, and considerably facilitated the official assignee’s investigation. In view of the satisfactory nature of the assignee’s report, Mr. Justice Smith granted the discharge.
