ST. JAMES THEATRE
JIM AS “THE NAUGHTY EARL”
Now in their eighth week at St. James Theatre, Jim Gerald and his snappy company of revue artists still continue to fill the theatre nightly. "The Naughty Earl” is the main feature of the show and gives plenty of scope for Jim and his funny ways. Jim is first of all an electrician, then a chemist, before he eventually becomes an earl. As a chemist he has many ready treatments for his customers who suffer from everyday ailments. With Reg Hawthorne, who takes the part of valet for Jim when he becomes an earl, they put across one of the cleverest sketches seen in Auckland for many a day. The setting of the revue, the ballet work of the Twinklers and Ron Shand and Joan Graham, with Olivette, the premier danseuse. the revue is excellently presented. In the first half of the programme a vaudeville show is presented, and each turn is well worth seeing. A matinee will be given tomorrow afternoon, while the usual evening performances of this programme continue until Monday evening.
