SCHOOLBOY’S DEATH
KNOCKED DOWN BY BUS OPENING OF INQUEST An inquest on tile death of William Munro Carlaw, a nine-year old school, boy who was knocked down by a bug on the -Great South Road yesterday, was opened before Mr. F. K. Hunt S.M., coroner, this morning. The body was identified by a cousin, John Carlaw, an auctioneer of 7 Arne# Road, Remuera. Witness said that the boy was a son of William Owen Carlaw. an accountant of 204 Great South Road. It is understood that the boy Juftj home to go for a short ride on hiss bicycle before school. He was cycling along Great South Hoad toward the city, and, when opposite his gate, turned across the road and was knocked down by a bus travelling from Otahuhu to the City. It would seem that the boy had crossed over giving no indication of his intention to do so. The driver of the bus took tho boy to the surgery of Dr. John A. W. Robertson where he died shortly after arrival. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
