SYMONDS STREET FIGHT
COMBATANTS MUST PAY COSTS ’TV ell you both have solicitors to pay so I’ll let yon off with costs,” commented Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when X. Cl. Campbell and H. Kearns were convicted at the Police Court this morning- on a charge of fighting in the street. Air. Snedden appeared for Kearns and Air. McLiver for Campbell, both defendants pleading not guilty. Robert Weatherly, a storeman, said that an argument had led to a fight outside an hotel. Then the two men had separated. They had mef again further down the street where is was suggested that the dispute be finalised in a neighbouring yard. On the way to the yard there had been a further blow struck. Witness could not say who bad started the trouble.
Each man was ordered to pay costs and witnesses’ expenses of £1 were divided between the two.
